Nonchalance

The breeze blew over her
And she smiled
She was thinking about him again…
Never has it happened
That before she realized she was thinking
She was smiling

Maybe it has
But it still feels new.

She held her phone in her hand
Continuing to smile at
The words coming through
She was thinking about him again.

She put the phone aside
Shook her head just enough
For the snow in the globe
To fly and settle on the pretty little house.
She saw the house and
She was thinking about him again.

The phone buzzed
She felt the smile again
Her heart pound…
She waited to enjoy the wait
Lest she may not feel the same

She cleared her throat
To try and sound nonchalant
But she was smiling
And he heard the smile

He casually asked
So what you thinking about
She smiled knowingly and
Answered, oh well you know
Some this some that

He brusquely said
Ah well I just called to
ask if you knew this person
from my college. But then
No i guess.

She furrowed her brow
He hung up
She smiled again
Shook her head gently enough
For the snow in the globe
To flutter and sigh

Men do not do nonchalance
